The month of May was a whirlwind of great press coverage for Evergreen. If you’re looking for a way to tell your friends about Evergreen, but don’t quite know how, take it from the perspective of Seattle Times higher education reporter Katherine Long, and Olympian education reporter Lisa Pemberton.
For the Sunday, May 10 feature article in The Seattle Times, Long spent a full day on Evergreen’s campus in Olympia, interviewing president Les Purce and incoming president Dr. George Bridges. She also visited two programs, interviewed Lynda Weinman ’77, several faculty members, and several students. By the end of the visit, Long declared Evergreen “a state college too few know about” and “a hidden success story”. Read the whole article online, and share far and wide!
Then on Saturday, May 23, The Olympian published an article about retiring president Thomas L. “Les” Purce, who’s been Evergreen’s president for a total of 15 years and who has “has helped lead the school for nearly half of its 43-year existence.” The online article has a video interview with Les, and quotes from students, staff and alumni. Read the entire article online, and again, share far and wide.
