Screen Printing

Why Screen Printing?

Screen printing is a process that’s been used for quite some time to distribute both information and design effectively. It’s incredibly versatile, allowing you to print on a variety of surfaces and materials for a fairly small amount of cash. This flexibility makes this process a fun and simple skill that allows you to turn old and unused clothes into something new, print detailed posters and flyers for events, or anything awesome you can think of!

The process is fairly basic, essentially consisting of pushing ink through a screen that’s been treated with a non-permeable stencil that’s the negative (areas not going to be colored) of the design. Whatever you want to be printed on goes underneath the screen, ink is poured on one side of the design, and then pushed across the screen with a large squeegee. If you want to learn more, there will be a detailed information booth set up at the festival, and a demonstration of the process.

If you’d like to have any of your clothing printed with one of many nifty designs made by evergreen students and faculty, please bring them to the festival!
