POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE
4-H Forestry Education Program Crew Supervisor
LOCATION
This position will be based in Shelton, Washington, the county seat for Mason County.
Responsibilities/Duties:
v Supervision of high school students and crew assistants participating in approved 4-H Forestry Education Program activities.
v Coordinate field trips and service-learning projects.
v Facilitate adventure-based games, initiatives and group activities.
v Present educational materials to youth aged 14-18 in a creative outdoor learning environment.
v Complete forms, reports, evaluations, and other documentation in support of program requirements.
v Participate in meetings, trainings and other scheduled activities as requested.
v File and complete necessary paperwork and reports at completion of summer program.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:
v Experience with natural resource education and youth facilitation techniques
v Minimum two years college education.
v A strong commitment and desire for working with youth.
v Ability to work flexible hours in the outdoors under potentially diverse weather and environmental conditions.
v Demonstrated ability to work constructively with groups and individuals.
v Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
v Ability to pass a background check.
v Positive service-oriented attitude.
v Valid Drivers License.
Preferred Qualifications:
v Current Washington State OSPI Teacher’s Certificate.
v Two-year degree in Forestry, Outdoor Recreation, Natural Resources or other related field.
v Certificated 4-H Challenge ropes course leader.
DURATION
This is a temporary contracted position. The duration of employment is from June 30 – Aug 12 2011. The 4-H Summer Forestry Program will operate daily from 8am – 5pm Monday – Friday for five weeks.
SALARY
$3,000
