LOTT is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform routine chemical and microbiological testing in our accredited laboratory. This position is represented by the AFSCME Labor Union. Qualifications include an Associates degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or closely related field, and one year professional laboratory work experience is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science or closely related field may be substituted for work experience. Additional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year for year basis. A valid Washington State Driver’s License is required within thirty days of employment. Work experience in an accredited or certified laboratory is preferred, and Washington State Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certification is desired. The salary range is $4,215 – $5,128 per month.
Typical duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Perform routine chemical (organic and inorganic), physical, and microbiological analyses for plant processes, waste stream flows, water, sediment and environmental samples
- Perform conventional analytical techniques and sampling, including quality assurance
- Prepare, standardize, and document preparation of testing solutions
- Comply with laboratory safety procedures, clean laboratory equipment, and perform general housekeeping to maintain laboratory cleanliness
