This position serves as the Habitat Science Team Marine Nearshore Ecologist and is the Department’s expert in the biology, behavior, ecology, conservation, and management of forage fish and marine nearshore habitats. Primary duties will include: identifying research and analytical needs; planning and conducting original research and prioritizing research projects to address questions pertinent to the conservation and management of state resources; helping to procure external funding for research; providing expert training and mentoring of various collaborators in the collection and analysis of scientific data for research and monitoring; providing guidance on the proper uses of nearshore habitat and ecology data; and presenting research results at conferences and public meetings with stakeholders.
