This position oversees Department databases related to the Marine Fish Science (MFS) group and serves as a technical information specialist for the Marine Resource Unit (MRU), which manages all marine fish and shellfish statewide. This position also serves as the designated Pacific Fisheries Information Network (PacFIN) coordinator for the agency. PacFIN is a coastwide (California, Oregon and Washington) database of commercial salmon, marine fish, shellfish, and aquaculture catch and market statistics. Specific components of PacFIN include a coastwide biological data system, a coastwide trawl logbook system, a facsimile of state fish ticket data, agency code lists, state licensing and vessel data, catch area and rockfish species proportions, and summarized fishing effort.
