This position is responsible for the development and implementation of programs for the annual assessment of the status of shellfish populations within the Nisqually Tribe’s Usual and Accustomed Areas, providing information regarding the status of these shellfish populations and consequent analysis of impacts of fisheries management options to tribal decision makers. The incumbent will: perform annual assessment of intertidal and subtidal shellfish populations and harvest opportunities and provide management recommendations to Nisqually Tribal decision makers; represent Tribal technical positions with local, State, and Federal agencies and other tribes; ensure Tribal compliance with appropriate Federal and State permits, guidelines, and court orders; supervise program staff; and attend the Nisqually Tribe’s Fish Commission meetings and work collaboratively with the Fish Commission to achieve program goals.
