The topic for May is The Developmental Benefits of Outdoor Play in Preschool Children, Ages 3-6.
Ms. Feliz Satir will present findings from an evidence-based research project she undertook in 2011 at the University of Washington. She conducted a post-occupancy evaluation of two Head Start school yards to determine whether specific features of the school yards afford the development of skills and abilities, physical activity and social-emotional growth in young children.
Ms. Satir earned a post-graduate certificate in Therapeutic and Healing Landscapes from the UW College of Built Environments in June 2011. She is a professional communicator, former newspaper journalist, and a previous communications staffer with the state Department of Health.
