A motivated individual with strong organization skills is sought for a, full-time paid 11 month internship to begin beginning-to-mid September, 2012 in Boulder, CO. The Public and Tribal Lands Stewardship Intern will assist with efforts on traditional and renewable energy issues to minimize and mitigate impacts to wildlife, oil and gas leasing and wildlife protection on public lands, climate change and climate adaptation strategies with tribes, efforts to protect wildlife and habitat on tribal lands, and a variety of other conservation-based efforts led by NWF with tribes and sportsmen.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Research, writing, and editing reports, newsletters, factsheets, blogs and memos.
  • Policy work at the federal and state levels regarding energy development, climate change, conservation funding, and wildlife conservation.
  • Grant research and writing.
  • Logistical support in organizing meetings and other events, including arranging travel, taking minutes, and distributing notes and other materials.
  • Administrative duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS, with strong course work or work experience in wildlife science/ecology, environmental policy, Native American Studies and other relevant fields.
  • Ability to conduct extensive research is a must.
  • The ideal candidate will possess excellent researching, writing, speaking and computer skills and proven experience in writing for multiple audiences.  Experience in or demonstrated commitment to natural resource conservation and working with diverse partners is desirable.

 

The Intern must be available to work a 40-hour weekly schedule.  This position offers $10/hour plus core benefits.  Intern will gain substantive experience on NWF’s conservation priorities for public and tribal lands.
