For the last ten years, the Allen Institute for Brain Science has been creating tools that give scientists unparalleled access to the human and mouse brains—when and where genes are expressed, how structures develop, and most recently, how the massive network of neurons that makes up the brain is connected. With this decade of work under its belt, the Allen Institute is now turning to use these and other new tools to answer fundamental questions about the brain: How does vision work? What areas of the brain process language and learning?

Terri Gilbert, Ph.D., Application Scientist, will share the impact of the Allen Institute’s brain atlases on advancing science around the world, as well as explore how our knowledge of a healthy brain will help us better understand and treat brain disorders and diseases in the future.
