Program Manager for South Sound Estuary Association
SSEA , a Thurston County-based environmental education organization, is offering a part-time (25-hour-per-week average) staff position. The organization’s mission is to provide opportunities for learning about the south Puget Sound’s unique marine environment. The program manager will work to deliver dynamic educational opportunities and community organization in Thurston and Mason Counties. The successful candidate will have marine biology and environmental education experience. Major responsibilities include:
– • Management of SSEA’s summertime Beach Naturalist program, including recruitment of volunteer naturalists and their trainers, and scheduling beach sessions at local parks.
– • Development of spring school-related program, collaborating with Taylor Shellfish and South Sound Green to develop curriculum for classrooms and on-the-beach sessions, focused on grades 4-12.
– • Arranging SSEA’s winter Discovery Speaker Series lectures, including speaker recruitment, scheduling and publicity.
– • Scheduling and leading Estuarium group visits for schools, child-care, youth groups.
– • Scheduling educational booths at local fairs and events (e.g., Wooden Boat Festival) and recruitment of volunteers to support each event.
Position pays $1520/month, based on an average of 25 hours per month. Candidates will consent to a criminal background check and provide two professional and one personal reference. Deadline for applications is February 14, 2014.
