COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & HARVEST COORDINATOR (PART-TIME)
Portland Fruit Tree Project, Portland, Oregon
Closes: Sunday, April 6, 2014

Employment Status: Part-time. 20 hours per week.
Compensation: $14 per hour
Start date: May 1st, 2014

Portland Fruit Tree Project (PFTP) is a non-profit organization that provides a community-based solution to a critical and growing need: Access to healthful food. By empowering neighbors to share in the harvest and care of urban fruit trees, PFTP is strengthening communities, preventing waste, and creating sustainable, cost-free ways for low income families to obtain locally-grown fruit. We register fruit and nut trees throughout the city, bring people together to harvest and distribute thousands of pounds of fresh fruit each year, cultivate community orchards on public lands, and teach tree care and food preservation in hands-on workshops. We currently have 2 full-time employees, 1 part-time employee, 1 full-time AmeriCorps member, and 1000+ active volunteers. For more information about our organization, go to www.portlandfruit.org

The Community Involvement & Harvest Coordinator (CIHC) will work collaboratively with volunteers, interns, tree owners, community partners, and the Program Coordinator (PC) to plan and coordinate harvesting events, supervise program interns and lead volunteers, register trees and conduct site visits with tree owners, and assist in performing any other duties in support of PFTP’s programs. The CIHC will also take the lead on outreach to spread the word about PFTP and bring diverse participants into our programs. This will include coordinating our PFTP Ambassador volunteers, as well as creating and distributing informational and promotional materials aimed at engaging diverse community members in supporting the work of PFTP as volunteers, partners, and donors.
