Could your education or outreach program benefit from a tribal partner? Have you ever tried to engage a tribe, or tribal organization, but had difficulties in connecting or communicating? Then this training is for you!

This training, through the Governor’s Office of Indian Affairs, is meant to foster cooperation and partnership between ECO Net members and Tribes through a better understanding of the tribal historical perspective, legal issues, tribal sovereignty and tribal government. The training allows sufficient time for questions and should assist attendees in developing and furthering relationships with Washington State’s twenty-nine Tribes. After completing the training, attendees should have a much better understanding of Tribes, their people and unique culture, and an enhanced awareness of the importance of multi-culturalism. Each attendee will be provided with a user-friendly reference book to continue furthering their understanding of contemporary native culture.

The training is led by Gordon James, former Chair of the Skokomish Tribe. As a consultant and trainer for more than 22 years, colleagues, community organizations, and government agencies recognize Gordon as a “world-class human development educator.” Gordon educates audiences using wit and laughter to teach key leadership skills and strategies for achieving successful personal and professional relationships.
