Engineering and Environment, Inc. is seeking a candidate to fill a Range and Training Land Assessment Coordinator position at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), WA. The individual in this position is responsible for assessing the condition of various aspects of natural resources and training infrastructure to support military training mission requirements. JBLM is an approximately 92,000-acre military reservation located in western Washington just south of Tacoma and is a major military training facility.
The Range and Training Land Assessment Coordinator oversees that component of the Integrated Training Area Management Program (ITAM). The ITAM Program is the Army’s comprehensive approach to training land management. ITAM is based on the integration of military mission, natural resource stewardship, and environmental compliance.
Responsibilities will include:
• Develop protocols, procedures, and methodologies for gathering data/information on natural resources with particular emphasis on grassland vegetation, research on re-establishing native vegetation after training impacts, and the condition of primitive roads.
• Identify and calculate cover of PNW grassland and forest flora species
• Identify and recommend priorities for land repair/restoration
• Use appropriate statistical methods to analyze data
• Produce GIS data and maps using ESRI software
• Manage databases including current data as well as archival information
• Work with Trimble GPS equipment and ArcPad
• Provide training and oversight of seasonal technicians
• Coordinate actions between RTLA projects and other entities on and off JBLM.
• Produce technical reports
• Conduct presentations

The ideal candidate will have the knowledge or ability and willingness to learn about training land management, military readiness, and military culture.
A Bachelors Degree (Master’s or PhD. Preferred) from an accredited college/university in natural resources, restoration ecology, botany or related field with 2 years related experience and/or training is required. Experience with developing and prioritizing projects, conducting field surveys and statistical data analysis, and providing crew management are required.
Candidates should have strong written and oral communication skills. Must hold a valid driver’s license. Must be capable of obtaining a security clearance.
