DESCRIPTION:

The primary purpose of this position is to provide production lead in the integration and use of spatial transportation data using Geographic Information System (GIS) processes to produce high quality analysis and output.  Promote and support appropriate collection, storage, integration and documentation of spatial data by facilitating the use of this data providing GIS analysis to meet the needs of ODOT.  Coordinate the unit’s resources to provide quality GIS analysis and output. Participate on the GIS application team and provide analysis output, spatial data maintenance and support meeting ODOT’s standards, policies and requirements.  Provide input to insure enterprise wide consistency in business practices as they relate to spatial data and GIS. Evaluate requests for GIS analysis and work with others to present their project request. Evaluate new and existing software to analyze the possibilities of providing consistent functionality to meet ODOT’s needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Two years of professional information systems experience which includes analyzing, developing, maintaining, installing and providing support for information systems and users.

Experience must include activities in:

· Communications: Communication means the connections that link systems and includes voice, data, image, and video.

· Software: Software means the programs, procedures, rules, and associated documentation concerned with operating a system and covers both applications and operating software.

· Hardware: Hardware Device means the physical components (e.g., PC, server, mainframe, peripherals).

· Data: Data means data bases and associated master files;

· Customer service: Assisting users in IT related functions, including supporting adaptive needs and training requirements.

 

AND EITHER

(a) At least 30 quarter (20 semester) credits in computer science;

OR

(b) Two more years of Geographic Information Systems experience;

Note: Preference will be given to those applicants with skills or knowledge in web based GIS technologies, workstation GIS, automated mapping, computer programming, surveying, math, geography, natural or cultural resource GIS analysis and/or spatial system development. A Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in computer science, Geography, GIS, Geology, Planning, Mathematics, Social Sciences, Natural Resources or a closely related spatial data analysis field is also desirable.
