The National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) is seeking a Farm to Community Coordinator. NCAT is a private non-profit organization that develops and promotes sustainable technologies and systems, especially for the benefit of economically disadvantaged people and communities. The Coordinator will work with farmers, retailers, community health organizations, schools, churches, food banks, and state and local agencies to expand an existing Farm to Work program, develop new distribution and marketing systems for local food, and increase the availability and consumption of sustainably-produced fruits, vegetables, and other foods. This is a great opportunity for a motivated person to strengthen local and regional food systems in Texas, New Mexico and the Southwest. This regular, full-time position will be based at NCAT’s Southwest Regional Office in San Antonio, Texas.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum requirements are (1) a BA/BS degree in a field related to agriculture, public health, nutrition, food studies, or a related field along with 3 years of relevant experience; or (2) an MA/MS degree and 1 year of relevant experience; or (3) an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience working with farms and communities to develop local food distribution and marketing systems. Spanish language proficiency would be a plus.

  • Excellent communication skills, with experience in writing and public speaking
