Parsons Brinckerhoff has an immediate opening for an Environmental Scientist in our Baltimore, MD office. The applicant must demonstrate technical experience in natural resource evaluations/assessments in Maryland. The selected candidate will provide professional technical support in conducting wetland delineations, forest stand delineations, habitat/biological/water quality assessments/monitoring, T&E species/habitat surveys, stream assessment, and wetland/waterway permitting for transportation/infrastructure projects. Experience related to wetland mitigation/stream restoration design and ecological restoration is desirable as is experience or knowledge in TMDL requirements. Responsibilities also include preparing natural resource technical reports, preparing permit applications, and coordinating with regulatory agencies. The successful applicant will possess knowledge of MS Word Office applications. Working knowledge of GIS applications is highly desirable. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team and be comfortable in both field and office environments.
Job Requirements
Experience and working knowledge of the following are required:
Familiarity with federal and Maryland state laws/regulations pertaining to natural resources, including wetlands/streams, floodplains, forests, and endangered species
Candidate must have minimum of 3 years experience conducting natural resource assessments for transportation/infrastructure projects in Maryland
Possess a command of the latest accepted methodologies for conducting natural resource evaluations, such as wetland delineation/functional assessment and habitat/biological/water quality assessment methods
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Have the ability to work with GIS/CADD/GPS applications
Education Required:
Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Biology, or related degree from an accredited school with demonstrated technical experience and a minimum of 3 years technical experience. Must have the ability to immediately work in the United States.
