The Chesapeake Bay Foundation seeks a Conservation Planner in a field position based in Lancaster County, PA. This is a one-year term position.

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) is the largest regional non-profit conservation organization working solely to save the Bay. CONTEXT OF THE POSITION

Conservation planner provides technical assistance for agricultural restoration projects with direct interaction with landowners, agencies, and related project partners. A majority of work is focused on project planning and design with related duties to advance CBF’s agricultural and stream restoration work.

Essential functions include:

1. Provide conservation planning and technical assistance for agricultural and stream restoration projects via various programs offered by CBF and partners – this task will be the primary duty of this position.

2. Perform related tasks to advance CBF restoration efforts including outreach to farmers, technical assistance including evaluation of agricultural management systems, natural resources, conservation planning, design and project oversight.

3. Other duties as assigned

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or experience commensurate. Background and experience in the fields of agronomy, forestry, and restoration is required. Proficiency in use of computers and applications relevant to conservation is expected, including ArcGIS and NRCS Toolkit. Completed certification in NRCS Conservation Planning and experience designing, installing, and certifying agricultural conservation practices are required.
