Built Green is a 15 year residential green building certification program created and administered by MBA of King and Snohomish County. It exists to certify green homes, promote green building education of industry and consumer groups. The team seeks to actively develop and maintain relationships across many facets of the industry and the community, such as industry influencers, sponsors, members, community and public sector partners. This role has a hands on approach in leading the effort in meeting Built Green goals and objectives with one on staff coordinator.

Essential Functions:

Strategy

  • Developing and implementing annual business plan including marketing and brand awareness with guidance from the Executive Committee
  • Create and plan annual events and calendar that focuses on meeting overall program objectives
  • Select and promote Built Green demonstration projects that bolster awareness
  • Analyze market and create education plan to enhance community and industry knowledge
  • Identify and participate on select boards or committees, including city and county government groups that support growth of green building
  • Maximize Built Green presence to community and members through partnering with other MBA departments such as Government Affairs, Membership Experience and Marketing/Events
  • Set goals for increasing and retaining Built Green membership and sponsorships

Program Management

  • Organizes, prioritizes and executes program to meet annual business plan objectives
  • Create and manage budgets for each event and projects
  • Coordinating all facets of events and seminars, including marketing, speakers, venue and catering
  • Manage and oversee third party agencies and programs to ensure they satisfy Built Green verification requirements
  • Conduct research and author articles for MBA, Built Green and outside industry publications
  • Review and approve certification for member projects pursuing certification
  • Communicate with member project team to support and address issues as they arise
  • Conduct publicity efforts to promote Built Green program and projects
  • Oversee and ensure execution of partnership and sponsorship contracts and agreements
  • Manages grant and incentive programs

Community Relationships/partnerships

  • Seek ways to interact and provide value to current and new member of Built Green program
  • Actively seeks and nurtures relationships for new members, sponsor, partners and community
  • Build relationships with and coordinates on outreach efforts with related programs and organizations
  • Seek and act on feedback from members and industry professionals on the program
  • Develop and maintain relationship with MBA board, executive committee and sub-committees
  • Review and manage third party agency relationships

Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in environmental studies, urban planning or the like
  • 2-3 years’ experience in project management, preferably in non-profit or association
  • Knowledge and passion for green building
