About the Internship: Work and Learn in Olympia

Opportunity to gain professional, paid work experience and study the legislative process winter and spring quarter: to build real-world professional skills January through April; a paid, full time (40 hours per week) commitment for undergraduate academic credit. Juniors and seniors of any major are eligible to apply by October 17, 2014 to:

  • Conduct legislative research
  • Attend committee hearings and legislative meetings
  • Correspond with constituents and state agencies
  • Track legislation, Assist with daily office tasks
  • Draft letters, resolutions, talking points, press releases, and newsletters
  • Participate in intern classes, workshops, and policy exercises

Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Good analytical and research skills
  • Mature judgment and commitment to following all legislative ethics laws
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment
