The Department of Ecology has a Hydrogeologist 3 position open!
Accidental spills of dangerous materials and past business practices have contaminated land and water throughout the state. The Toxics Cleanup Program (TCP) works to remedy these situations, which range from cleaning up contamination from leaking underground storage tanks, to large, complex projects requiring engineering solutions. Our mission is to get and keep contaminants out of the environment.
The program’s Voluntary Cleanup Program Unit in the Southwest Regional Office in Lacey, WA is looking for a Site Manager/Hydrogeologist (Hydrogeologist 3).
This position works as a site manager on assigned sites to ensure they achieve cleanup goals.
Specifically, the person in this position:
- Serves as a site manager evaluating/reviewing, and overseeing hydrogeologic and remediation projects, analyses, and/or investigations within the Southwest Region.
- Oversees hydrogeologic analysis for groundwater, unsaturated zone and/or surface water investigations.
- Works as a site manager or as a technical support hydrogeologist on assigned sites (Voluntary Cleanup Program [VCP] / Formal) to help achieve cleanup goals.
- Directs and manages remedial investigations, feasibility studies, design activities, and corrective action at assigned VCP/Formal contaminated sites.
- Maintains a detailed knowledge of hydrogeological and remediation methods and procedures in pursuit of compliance with applicable environmental statutes.
- Maintains a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, including RCW 70.105D WAC 173-340 (Model Toxics Control Act [MTCA] Cleanup Regulation), and RCW 90.76 WAC 173-360 (Underground Storage Tank Regulation).
