Position Summary: EarthShare Washington seeks an outgoing and organized individual to support the 2015 Earth Day Challenge(http:www.EarthDayChallenge.org/). This is an Independent Contractor position lasting 4 months (Jan. 5-April 30, 2015) and is part-time (20 hours per week). Primary responsibilities are community outreach, team recruitment and management, representing the organization in public settings, procurement of prizes, tracking of volunteer opportunities, assisting with social media, and general office duties in support of the Earth Day Challenge.
Responsibilities:
- As a key member of the ESW Earth Day Challenge team, represent the organization in the public through email, phone and in-person communication.
- Research and report on potential team sectors such as Corporations, Neighborhood groups, Community groups, Schools and Churches. Identify best contacts to help promote the Earth Day Challenge.
- Assist in conducting meetings as needed with prospective teams. Send follow-up communication and provide support to assigned teams so that they may be successful in their efforts.
- Assist with logistics on third party events or any public Earth Day Challenge events.
- Procure donations of incentives for participants of the Earth Day Challenge. Duties include compiling a target list, sending and following up on requests, providing documentation of In-Kind donations for record keeping. Assist in acknowledging donations.
- Contact member organizations to identify volunteer opportunities to promote during the Earth Day Challenge. Compile information and assist in promoting volunteer opportunities.
- Working with the Operations & Communications Director, assist with communications and outreach (web, social media, etc.)
- Support general office duties such as mailings, list management, and data entry for the Earth Day Challenge.
Required Qualifications:
- Outgoing with effective communication skills with email, phone, and in person
- Ability to represent ESW in a professional and positive manner
- Strong organizational and computer skills (MS Office, internet, etc.)
- Experience using web and social media
- Ability to be self-directed and work independently, using creative problem solving skills
- Enthusiasm to help EarthShare Washington bring people together to build and share resources for the environment.
Compensation: This is an independent contractor position. Pay is $22 per hour, part-time (20 hours per week) from Jan. 5-April, 30, 2015. Independent contractor is responsible for the payment of federal and state taxes. Does not include fringe benefits; approved out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed. Contractor candidates must have valid Washington State Business license by start date.
