Environmental Planner 4
Accidental spills of dangerous materials and past business practices have contaminated land and water throughout the state. The Toxics Cleanup Program (TCP) works to remedy these situations, which range from cleaning up contamination from leaking underground storage tanks, to large, complex projects requiring engineering solutions. Our mission is to get and keep contaminants out of the environment.
The program’s Southwest Regional Office in Lacey, WA is looking for an Environmental Planner 4.
This position serves as a senior level environmental planner who independently leads and manages the Tacoma Smelter Plume (TSP) education and outreach program, and the development of new policy direction for integrating soil safety into various local and state government agencies and local interest groups (e.g., Real Estate).
Duties include: Project Planning and Communication – as senior level environmental planner, plan and track overall TSP project work and progress. Tasks include:
Interim Action Plan (IAP) Phase Two – develop and manage the education and outreach components associated with Phase Two of the IAP, including working with the Real Estate community. Working with some of the stakeholder groups, including the Real Estate community, will require development of a significant new direction in existing policy and coordination with other state and local agencies. Qualifications: |
Required Qualifications
A Master’s degree or above with major emphasis in land use, urban, regional, environmental, or natural resource planning, landscape architecture, geography, land use or environmental law, public administration with an environmental emphasis, or closely related field;
AND
Three years of professional experience in land use, urban, regional, environmental, or natural resource planning, and/or program development.
OR
One year of experience as an Environmental Planner 3. Working knowledge of the Model Toxics Control Act, Chapter 173-340 WAC. Experience managing budgets. Excellent negotiation and facilitation skills. |
