The Eastern Washington Stewardship Coordinator works across 33,000 acres of Conservancy-owned land and 7500 acres of easement land in eastern Washington to identify and implement priority land stewardship needs, including easement compliance monitoring, ecological monitoring, invasive species control, and volunteer coordination. The Coordinator position works out of the Cle Elum area, with extensive travel throughout eastern Washington.

The Eastern Washington Stewardship Coordinator plans and conducts preserve management and stewardship. She/he addresses critical threats to natural systems and individual species, and fosters cross-site learning among the conservation community. The Coordinator implements a variety of strategies to secure public and private support for TNC conservation priorities. S/he coordinates community and volunteer support and implements multiple projects from planning stages through to completion. As part of the Stewardship Team, s/he will work closely with the Director of Stewardship and the Director of Moses Coulee/Beezley Hills Program to determine stewardship priorities and ensure a high standard of stewardship across Conservancy properties and easements.

Ideal candidate will have experience and skills that reflect the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience in natural resource management or equivalent combination of education and experience.Working familiarity with eastern Washington ecology, flora, and fauna.
  • Experience managing seasonal staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • Experience using common software applications such as Word, Excel, web browsers, etc.
  • Experience using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Global Positioning Systems (GPS).
  • Experience, coursework, or training in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles. Must possess or be able to obtain Washington State Commercial Applicators pesticide license.
  • Experience operating and maintaining machinery (weed whackers, lawn mowers etc.), farm equipment, and 4-wheel drive vehicles.
