Job Description Summary:
The Sustainability Research Analyst supports the Office of Sustainability team with analysis and coordination under the close supervision of the Senior Project Facilitator. The Sustainability Research Analyst has a unique role in providing support to the team on issues and projects that help the university have a positive impact on ecosystems in an urban setting, with the intent to enhance social equity and economic prosperity. S/he contributes to the university’s practice of sustainability as part of its business, operations, and culture, which may address educational components for students, staff, and faculty. S/he conducts research, analysis, and compiles results for use by the team as they determine the strategy, implement projects, and engage with stakeholders. The incumbent focuses on issues that strengthen habitat and optimize natural space, promote healthy air and climate, foster clean and abundant fresh water systems, support sustainable food production systems, optimize waste decomposition and treatment, and encourage a natural urban environment that promotes physical, mental, and social well-being. Also, s/he supports the Office of Sustainability team with communication, administration, and coordination of research, events, projects, and outreach.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus three years of relevant professional experience. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Desired Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to perform data research, multitask, and effectively prioritize and manage time. Excellent writing and communication skills. Strong knowledge of MS Office. Experience providing executive and research support in an academic environment.

JOB DUTIES

  • Performs research, compiles and analyzes data, and incorporates into reports, memos, and emails for use by Office of Sustainability (OS) team members and partners across campus.
  • Participates in the development and planning of presentations, papers, reports, emails, newsletters, and other communication on OS initiatives with targeted stakeholder groups.
  • Serves as an extension to the OS in preparing, reviewing, and approving reports and documents.
  • Coordinates with OS team on development and deployment of electronic communications including website, listserv, emails and other social networking outlets.
  • Develops and maintains policy and decision files, regulations, historical files and similar documents applicable to OS.
  • Supports OS with managing and scheduling events,and preparing for presentations and exhibitions and tracking expenses.
  • Communicates with other university offices, schools, and centers to exchange information, enlist cooperation, and implement OS programs.
  • Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
