Seattle Tilth is a fast growing, dynamic organization that believes all people deserve access to healthy, nutritious food and that changing the way we grow, cook and eat food has the potential to transform people’s lives as well as the communities in which we live. Our environmental programs focus on the health and sustainability of the natural environment through hands on education in gardening, composting, pesticide reduction and recycling activities. We serve communities throughout Seattle, the East side and South King County.

Reporting to the environmental programs manager, the environmental programs coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of community-based volunteer activities and projects, the recruitment and oversight of recycling and composting program volunteers and for establishing relationships with community partners to identify community-based opportunities for volunteers. The person in this position will track and report on program activities, including contract and grant deliverables, support team members and contribute to the success of all Seattle Tilth programs.

In addition to a strong background in community organizing and outreach, the successful candidate will have a proven ability to network with partner agencies, build bridges and community relationships with groups and individuals from a variety of racial, cultural and economic backgrounds. Also required is knowledge and experience in gardening, composting and recycling, curriculum development and teaching in non-traditional environments. Candidates must be self-directed, professional, and have strong organizational and time management skills.

Based at our main office at the Good Shepherd Center in Wallingford, this is a full- time position that requires some evening and weekend work as well as a reliable personal vehicle to transport self and teaching materials to locations throughout the greater Seattle area.
