Administrative Intern 3 – Special Project Assistant

We are recruiting to fill a part-time, permanent Administrative Intern 3 (Special Project Assistant) position
located in our Technology and Financial Management Program, Administration Division located at the
Washington State Natural Resources Building in Olympia, Thurston County, Washington. This position is open
until filled. The initial review of applicants will be conducted on January 4, 2016.
DUTIES:
This position provides project management assistance to the Assistant Director of the Technology and
Financial Management Program, Innovation and Strategies Manager and other senior program managers.
The person selected for this role will have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of large, complex, highprofile
and/or agency-wide projects related primarily to legislation and process improvement initiatives. They

will also have the opportunity to assist in planning a statewide conference and will be relied upon to perform
administrative functions in support of the office, as needed.
The person selected for this role will be assisting others in researching and analyzing information; conducting
stakeholder outreach and responding to constituents; forecasting and strategic planning and prioritization;
facilitating and documenting work flows and process; and assisting in the development and implementation of
process improvement strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a graduate program
Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook to manage and track communications,
documents, reports, spreadsheets, databases, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience applying critical thinking strategies to evaluate and solve problems.
Experience serving, communicating and interacting with diverse individuals and groups
Experience working in a professional office setting

Working Conditions
This position normally works 16 regularly scheduled hours within an 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through
Friday work week. Work is generally performed in a busy office setting. Varying degrees of activity occur in
the common areas during working hours; most tasks will involve working on a computer and extensive sitting.
Incumbent must be able to work amid distraction.
