Description:
The Freshwater Trust, a Pacific Northwest-based nonprofit leader in stream and river restoration, is seeking an experienced and innovative professional to support the development of new freshwater restoration programs. This full-time, permanent position will work as part of The Freshwater Trust’s Freshwater Solutions team. The Freshwater Solutions Team is focused on developing new opportunities to apply the principles of “quantified conservation” through contracting with municipal, governmental, and nonprofit entities. The analysis and program design services provided through consulting services lead to program implementation and restoration on the ground and are a key part of The Freshwater Trust’s mission to increase the pace and scale of river restoration.
With support from other staff at The Freshwater Trust, this position will interact directly with regulated entities, regulatory agency personnel, regional stakeholders, agricultural leaders, and other conservation buyers to develop water quality trading and other conservation and river restoration programs that promote measurement and tracking of ecological outcomes. The Freshwater Solutions Associate (position title may instead be Coordinator, depending on experience) will provide support in the development of outreach and marketing strategy and materials, communication systems, Scopes of Work, internal work plans and operations. The Freshwater Solutions Associate or Coordinator will report directly to the Freshwater Solutions Director, but will need a keen understanding of all departments at The Freshwater Trust and will often interface with a diverse group of staff.
Position Responsibilities:
• Support the Freshwater Solutions team efforts in prospecting for new program development opportunities, establishing contact with new prospective clients and developing sales strategy.
• Work with communications staff to develop outreach and sales assets for a variety of stakeholder groups and potential clients.
• Development of informational documents relating to new opportunities, potential market sectors, and regions. Discover new leads and undertake/direct analysis of the viability and priority of new business opportunities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients throughout sales and active implementation of Scopes of Work.
• Create and maintain systems that support work product development to ensure work product quality and client satisfaction.
• Participate as required in work product planning, development, quality control, and delivery.
• Give public presentations and interact with clients and stakeholders while representing The Freshwater Trust at relevant conferences and events.
• Travel required for this position may be up to 30%, and at times travel may be expected on short notice. Travel and other work related assignments may include weekends.
Minimum Skills and Qualifications:
• 2-5 years of experience in conservation or consulting.
• Demonstrated ability to manage tasks, engage diverse stakeholders in an outcome-oriented process, and work well remotely.
• General knowledge of water quantity, quality, and conservation actions and regional agricultural practices.
• Capacity to proactively juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities within a high energy environment.
• Strong passion for The Freshwater Trust’s mission and vision.
• Dynamic and highly motivated, a proactive self-starter.
• Strong communication skills with an enthusiasm and ability to learn and use new systems and concepts.
• Minimum of a BA/BS in conservation or related field; advanced degree desirable.
