NATURE EDUCATOR
Metro, Partners in Nature Program, Portland, Oregon
Closes: Monday, February 8, 2016 at 5:00 pm

Salary: $24.29 – $32.56 hourly

One full-time position is available. This is a limited duration position funded by the natural areas levy. Minimum duration of the position funding is June 30, 2018, but duration may be extended if funding is available. Limited duration positions are benefits eligible.

Are you an enthusiastic, creative nature educator with a passion for engaging new audiences? If so, read on! Metro’s nature education team is looking for a new member to help open the doors to nature for communities who have historically faced barriers, including people of color and low-income communities. We’ll count on you to develop innovative programming that responds to community needs, builds lasting connections and exposes young people to the outdoors. You will work collaboratively with community-based organizations in Metro’s Partners in Nature program, which tailors nature experiences to diverse communities.

Metro’s portfolio of voter-protected land provides an exciting palette for nature education. You’ll have the opportunity to lead programs at beloved destinations like Oxbow Regional Park, where an ancient forest rises above the banks of the Sandy River — as well as places where Metro is just preparing to welcome visitors, like Chehalem Ridge Natural Area in western Washington County.

This position requires some flexibility in scheduling, including some evenings and weekends. Your primary work site will be the Oregon Zoo; however, you can expect to spend substantial time at Metro Regional Center and in the field.
