Spring and Summer 2016 Internship Opportunity for MPA and MES Students
The Infrastructure Assistance Coordinating Council (IACC), through the Center for Sustainable Infrastructure, is seeking an Evergreen graduate student for Spring and Summer Quarters 2016 to provide assistance in researching and writing about sustainable infrastructure planning, documenting funding agencies accomplishments, and providing assistance in developing communication materials.
IACC is an interagency council of federal, state, non-profit associations, and tribal organizations committed to the development, improvement, and maintenance of local infrastructure. We help communities save time and money by providing technical expertise and funding options for their infrastructure projects.
During Spring Quarter 2016 (4 Credits), the intern will:
- Research, develop, and write a series of one page white papers on sustainable infrastructure planning.
- Interview IACC partner agencies and highlight the list of accomplishments;
- Combine all IACC’s partner agency’s pertinent infrastructure data as a “total Washington State infrastructure needs met.”
- Develop a small case studies report on lessons learned about collaborative funding.
During Summer Quarter 2016 (2 Credits), the intern will
- Work with IACC web-coordinator to populate the website with white papers, accomplishments, and success stories;
- Develop and maintain email lists
- Assist with the development of power point presentation to be used at conferences;
- Help develop brochures and various communication materials, including graphics, charts, and other visual displays.
Although not part of this internship, the candidate will have the opportunity to attend IACC’s fall conference in Wenatchee, WA. All per diem costs will be paid by IACC. The candidate will help conference coordinators, and be able to attend the many educational sessions about infrastructure planning.
Internship Commitment: This internship will be a total of 6 credits; 4 credits Spring Quarter and 2 credits Summer Quarter.
Compensation: Total compensation is $4,500 plus per diem and conference fees for attendance at IACC’s yearly conference in Wenatchee, WA.
Field Supervisor: Primary Point-of-Contact will be Bill Hashim. Bill is a long time employee of Washington State Dept of Ecology, specializing in strategic planning, water quality grants and loans, and watershed planning. There will also be an opportunity for the intern to work with staff from a number of funding agencies, including federal, state, and non-profit organizations.
