Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia’s wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of UVA’s buildings, infrastructure and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.The Sustainability Analyst is a core member of the University of Virginia’s Office for Sustainability, which seeks to engage our communities, steward resources, and discover ways to improve Grounds and beyond for generations to come. Under the supervision of the Sustainability Director, the Sustainability Analyst is responsible for analyzing, interpreting, organizing, maintaining, and clearly communicating sustainability-related metrics to evaluate progress towards pan-university goals, in topics such as energy, greenhouse gas emissions, nitrogen, water, waste, food, and engagement.

The Sustainability Analyst is responsible for analyzing, interpreting, organizing, maintaining and communicating, with a high level of accuracy and integrity, sustainability-related metrics to evaluate progress towards pan-university goals, in topics such as energy, greenhouse gas emissions, nitrogen, water, waste, food and engagement, developing annual reports and other communication tools, developing projections for the impact of potential strategies, supporting the development of new programs, and benchmarking within UVA and with external sources. The Analyst provides analytical and technical support for sustainability-related projects, such as life cycle costing and projected benefits. This work will be accomplished through strong partnerships with schools and departments across UVA. The ideal candidate must have knowledge of energy or emissions-related metrics, experience analyzing large data sets, and must demonstrate: attention to detail, the ability make independent decisions, a high level of initiative, and proactive creative approaches to problem-solving.

The Sustainability Analyst will be required at times to enter mechanical rooms, energy plants and steam tunnels.
