FISH & WILDLIFE BIOLOGIST 3
The Department of Fish and Wildlife is recruiting to fill one full time, permanent, Fish & Wildlife Biologist 3 in located in the Habitat, Science Division. The duty station for this position is located in the Natural Resource Building, Olympia, Thurston County.The Fish & Wildlife Biologist 3 plans, develops, designs and implements biological studies, including data collection, data summarization, analysis, interpretation and report writing. Responsibilities include supervision of seasonal field staff (up to 12 scientific technicians), hiring (screening applicants, interviewing, selecting, training), field crew training on sampling protocols, development of data collection protocols, preparation for field data collection, fieldwork implementation and data collection, data management, data analysis and report preparation.

The incumbent will also independently plan, develop, design, and implement small studies and projects as needed, including implement field data collection, oversee field staff in data collection, summarize study results and prepare final reports (including assessments and recommendations in the form of mitigation plans for managing and enhancing wildlife habitats), including coordination with external entities, including state and county governments. This work will include independently prioritizing, planning, coordinating and implementing all work associated with these projects, including acting as supervisor of technicians or biologists. This position will also be involved in the development of products for publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentation of results at scientific conferences and general meetings. Acts as an expert on amphibian issues or questions within and outside of the Habitat Program.
