The Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) is a small state agency that provides support for two boards and two councils as mandated by the Washington State Legislature. The mission of the Recreation and Conservation Office is to work with others to protect and improve the best of Washington’s natural and outdoor recreational resources by: developing strategies, promoting partnerships and coordination, and funding projects through fair processes. RCO’s employees are passionate about conserving and restoring important natural landscapes, bringing salmon back from the brink of extinction and creating recreational opportunities for Washingtonians.
Duties
This position provides administrative support for the Salmon Recovery Funding Board Grants Section and the Governor’s Salmon Recovery Office. Some of the duties you can expect to perform are:
- Write, proofread and edit publications, letters, meeting minutes, applications, contracts, and other documents.
- Organize, coordinate and set-up meetings to include room and equipment reservations, set-up and tear down, meeting material preparation, and taking minutes.
- Interpret office and board policies and procedures.
- Track agency contracts and project agreements.
- Manage, file, and archive paper and electronic records.
- Research, develop and edit reports; perform data entry and maintain RCO database.
- Assist with coordinating the grant application intake process.
- Develop and coordinate the distribution of grant review and evaluation materials.
- Maintain calendars, schedule meetings, and make travel arrangements.
- Communicate with staff, grant applicants, board members and the public.
- Support Salmon Recovery Funding Board quarterly meetings.
Qualifications
The most successful candidate will have the following:
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience performing office/clerical, secretarial, or general administrative work.
