PhD Opportunity in forest and nature conservation policy at Goettingen University, Germany

Ph.D. Program
The Chair of Forest and Nature Conservation Policy, Georg-August-University Goettingen, Germany is seeking PhD students. Research will concentrate on the fields of natural resource governance, forestry, and the transfer of knowledge from science to practice. Students will be responsible for collecting and analyzing data, presenting research findings at professional conferences, and drafting peer-reviewed publications. The PhD program lasts three years.

Stipend:
Non-German students can receive a stipend from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) that covers the cost for living. There are no tuition fees in Germany.
Qualification:
 Master’s degree in forestry, natural resource management, or environmental sciences (or comparable field) with a focus on social sciences or a degree in public policy with a focus on forest or environmental policy
 Strong interest in forest policy
 Basic knowledge in forest management
 Experience or strong interest in knowledge transfer from forest science to practice and/or natural resource governance
 Experience publishing in international journals would be an asset
 Willingness to work with an international team
 No prior knowledge of German language required. The forest policy department is very international, thus English is a working language.
