Are you concerned about climate change? Do you want to see our government take action? Join the “Put a Price on It” campaign and help put a price on carbon. Put a Price on It mobilizes young people in education and civic engagement to pass fair and effective climate policy at the state and national levels. By putting a price on carbon, we will hold polluters accountable and transition our economy to a clean energy future. Fellows will train and organize other students, rallying public support for carbon pricing policy, and engage directly with elected officials. Applications are currently being accepted for our Summer 2017, Fall 2017, and Spring 2018 fellowship positions.
Fellows will work closely with Our Climate and Citizens’ Climate Lobby staff to achieve mutually agreed upon goals. This educational and supportive arrangement is designed to build a stronger and more diverse coalition of leaders needed to pass fair and effective climate policy. Fellows will be trained to conduct public outreach on the local, state, and national level, including but not limited to:
- Seeking and securing campaign endorsements from businesses, cities, colleges, organizations, and prominent individuals;
- Identifying and securing opportunities to attend and participate in community events;
- Participating in phone banks, door-to-door canvasses, and other list-building activities;
- Writing and submitting media materials, including letters to the editor, op-eds, and press releases;
- Helping to organize informational and community-building events (concerts, house parties, forums, etc.).
Additionally, fellows will be encouraged to actively participate in team decisions around strategy, effective messaging, targeted outreach, and more. Fall and Spring fellows will work on similar activities but with a stronger focus on the campus community.
