DEGREE AND AREA OF SPECIALIZATION:

Master’s degree in Botany, Horticulture, or related plant science discipline.

MINIMUM NUMBER OF YEARS AND TYPE OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE:

A year or more of relevant experience such as greenhouse/garden management or facilities management.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The main objective of the Greenhouses and Botanical Garden at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Department of Botany is to support the instructional and research activities of the Department’s faculty, academic staff, employees-in-training, and graduate and undergraduate students. In addition to meeting these essential teaching and research interests of the Department, the facilities are also utilized for outreach and public relations. The facilities include Greenhouses (~750 square meters housing approximately 1000 plant species) and the Botanical Garden (~6100 square meters with over 600 plant species). The Director of the Greenhouses and Botanical Garden is responsible for the overall management of these facilities, including supervision of staff, maintenance and improvement of infrastructure, and management of botanical specimens.
