Job Description:

Mentor and support youth and families in Thurston County with Youth in Service AmeriCorps! As a Youth in Service member you will serve full-time in a local school or non-profit organization (a full list of service sites is available on our website).

Member responsibilities may include:
-Tutoring and mentoring – during school hours and in after school and community-based programs
-Social skill building activities, including alternative recess and conflict resolution
-Facilitating homework clubs, violence prevention activities, recreational activities, and more
-Finding housing and other basic needs for families who are homeless
-Giving out community referrals
-Hosting family engagement activities
-Recruiting, training and managing community volunteers
-Building partnerships with local businesses and community groups
-Fundraising and donation gathering

Qualifications:

Applicants must be 18 to 25 years old
Have at least a high school diploma or GED
Have previous volunteer experience
Be passionate about helping children, youth and families
