Customer Service Specialist 2
(Part-Time, Permanent)
The Department of Fish and Wildlife is recruiting to fill one part-time, permanent, Customer Service Specialist 2 position located in our Director’s Office, Region 2 Operations, located at 1550 Alder ST NW, Ephrata, WA.
 Duties:
This recruitment is to fill a permanent part time position in the Ephrata office.  As a member of the customer service team, this employee provides information about hunting and fishing opportunities and available services to hunters, fishers, the recreating public, and Regional staff.

Principal activities include:

  • Interpreting agency related laws, policies and procedures to resolve customer service problems.
  • Providing interpretation and advice by telephone, by email and in person to hunters, fishers, wildlife viewers, license dealers, people with nuisance wildlife problems, and others.
  • Maintaining contact with WDFW personnel to ensure reference material is current. Reviewing agency website for new information and links to other resources.
  • Resolve issues that may occur with purchases that may occur at License Vendors.
  • Sell fishing/hunting licenses using both cash and credit technology, balance till and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Act as liaison between Licensing staff in Olympia and regional licensing dealers.
  • Independently resolve customer problems.
  • Provide support to regional staff.
 Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree AND two years of experience providing assistance to customers regarding inquiries, complaints or problems; OR a Bachelor’s Degree; OR equivalent experience providing assistance to customers regarding inquiries, complaints or problems.

Competencies:

  • Proficiency in reading, comprehending, retaining and interpreting information from complex written documents.
  • Working knowledge of computer software applications including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle large amounts of cash, checks and money orders.
  • Record keeping, filing, and organization skills to work with a variety of forms and records.
  • Ability to communicate tactfully with people in stressful situations; telephone communication skills.
  • Ability to handle fast-paced office with constant interruption between phone and counter.
  • Ability to research, explain and retain information.Attention to detail.
 Supplemental Information:
Working Conditions
Work schedule is primarily Monday-Friday, four (4) hours a day. Will be required to alter work hours to cover annual leave, sick leave, emergencies, etc.   Working environment is a busy office setting. Varying degrees of activity occur in the common areas during working hours; tasks will involve long periods of time standing in addition to long periods of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Incumbent must be able to work amid distraction.  Must be able to lift 40 lbs without assistance.
