The Washington State Senate and House of Representatives hires 60-70 college students every year to work in Olympia as full-time, paid non-partisan staff during the annual Legislative Session from January-March. Interns receive firsthand knowledge of the legislative process and training in office work, customer service, public policy, negotiation, government relations, and professional writing. In addition to their office duties, interns participate in academic seminars, shadowing experiences, and workshops with policymakers from all sectors of state government.
