In this position you’ll be relied upon to provide complex analysis and interpretation of payroll and personnel guidelines and regulations.

Some of what you’ll enjoy doing:

Processing payroll actions according to state/federal rules and regulations, the Collective Bargaining Agreements, the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and the Washington Administrative Code (WAC).
Auditing and reviewing all records and related data for regular, overtime, stand-by, shift differential and specialty pay.
Inputting and balancing leave information for compliance and making adjustments as needed.
Entering and retrieving data using the state’s payroll Human Resources Management System (HRMS), healthcare (PAY1) and retirement systems (WBET).
Processing shared leave, garnishments, taxable fringe benefits, overpayments, underpayments, health adjustments and other deductions.
Analyzing and calculating payroll data adjustments related to IRS levies, wage assignments, deceased employees benefits, etc.
Distributing payroll reports to staff in client agencies.
Completing payment and journal vouchers to process shared leave, garnishments, warrant cancellations, Statute of Limitations, and quarterly L&I taxes.
Processing quarterly L&I and 941 payments.
Creating reports and spreadsheets; researching and resolving discrepancies and responding to queries from employees and other stakeholders.

Any combination of education and relevant professional experience totaling five (5) years. Education must include the required credit hours in accounting, auditing or budgeting.

OR

A Bachelor’s degree, which includes 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing or budgeting, AND one (1) year of relevant professional experience.
