This summer there will be a competition for students interested in solid waste. Current MES students, Lucy Pierce and Meara Heubach are trying to recruit more MES students to join their team.
Here’s the skinny:
Possible title: “International Solid Waste Design Competition”
Interested in garbage and recycling? Want to travel to Nashville this summer to compete for $2,500? The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) is hosting its annual student competition, where teams of 3-6 undergraduate or graduate students present their solutions to a real-world solid waste problem. Teams have 8 months to prepare their solution and present it as a report, poster, and presentation at SWANA’s national conference in Nashville. All team participants earn a free registration for the conference and could win prizes of $2,500 or $1,000. For more information about the competition, check out https://swana.org/Events/WASTECON/SWDC.aspxhttps://swana.org/Events/WASTECON/SWDC.aspx. Team applications are due January 19, so if you are interested in joining a team, please e-mail Meara Heubach at heumea30@evergreen.edu.
