Scientist or Geologist – Mid Level – Environmental Remediation

Stafford TXResponsibilities:

Handles (or assists with) case management activities for environmental monitoring and remediation projects, including managing the implementation of project work plans including scheduling, reporting, budgeting support, subcontractor coordination and client / regulatory interaction.

Researches information relating to identifying geological formations and soil delineation studies and prepares reports and geological maps based on the findings.

Evaluates, analyzes and interprets technical data relative to project-specific goals, create and interpret accurate data display graphs and figures, complete basic fate and transport analysis, and identifies data gaps and data needs leading to development of a Conceptual Site Model and/or risk assessment.

Performs hydrogeological assessments regarding groundwater flows to identify contamination impact and related concerns. Understands slug test models and collecting aquifer data to populate the model.

Prepares technically accurate, complete and concise work plans based on evaluation of site data needs.

Records data, prepares reports, provides analysis and interpretations of findings based on scientific experimentation and existing knowledge.

Mentors junior employees by providing QA/QC support on reports and other deliverables.

Performs field activities including, sub-slab soil gas installations, groundwater sampling, gauging, bailing, surveying, monitoring well installations, remedial excavations and fieldwork oversight.

Compiles accurate field notes on each event/site.

Adheres to GES Loss Prevention System (LPS) safety protocols.

 

Skills & Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related disciple.

2-6+ years of related experience. Must have hands on fieldwork & office experience in the environmental consulting field. Experience with drilling oversight and the ability to lead subsurface events is a plus. Familiarity with Underground Storage Tank regulations is highly preferred. Exxon Mobil project site experience is a major plus!

Working knowledge of Texas’ environmental regulations and RCRA and CERCLA State/Federal regulations.

Must possess excellent communication and technical writing skills and be able to independently prepare a complete deliverable report with a focus on QA/QC.

Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Adobe, geologic logging/cross section. programs required. Experience with database/graphics management (Access, GIS, CAD) a plus.

Must be detail-oriented, and a team player with good communication, analytical, organization, and time management skills.

A Background Check and an Alcohol/Drug Screening are required.

Must have a clean driving record and be able to drive a company vehicle.
