The Pollution Liability Insurance Agency (PLIA) provides an effective and efficient government funding model that helps owners and operators meet financial responsibility and environmental cleanup requirements for underground storage tanks.
PLIA is seeking an Environmental Specialist 3 who will provide support to the agency mission by:
- Independently completing environmental reviews to provide technical assistance.
- Assist with rule-writing activities.
- Interpret and communicate policies to agency customers.

Some of what you will be doing:
- Provide specialized technical advice and assistance during oversight of environmental cleanups.
- Identify and develop communication and public engagement strategies for agency programs.
- Assist with the development of agency rules and legislative proposals.
- Qualifications

REQUIRED:
A Bachelor’s degree involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied field AND two (2) years of professional level experience in environmental analysis or control or environmental planning.
Additional qualifying experience will substitute, year for year, for education.
A Master’s degree in one of the above fields will substitute for one year of the required experience.
OR
A Ph.D. in one of the above fields.
OR
One year of experience as an Environmental Specialist 2.
DESIRED:
Experience working in a fast-paced environment meeting stringent deadlines and the ability to change priorities quickly.
Experience in serving, communicating and interacting with diverse individuals and groups.
Experience working with rulemaking and/or legislation.
