Field Crew Coordinator

Status: Part-time, temporary, 20 hours in the early spring, with potential up to 30 hours in summer and early fall

Schedule: March through November, 3-4 days a week, occasional weekends

Compensation: $15.00 per hour, farm produce, opportunity to take part in GRuB Trainings

GRuB grows healthy food, people and community. The GRuB Farm is crucial to our work. It is an outdoor classroom for many programs, a place where people meet to work and learn together, and the source of the nutritious food that we eat, sell and donate to the community. The Field Crew Coordinator (FCC) supports the Farm Manager and Farm Marketing Coordinator in carrying out the farm plan and coordinating people and activities on the land. This position is responsible for providing leadership and supervising Grub’s Farm Interns, Youth Farm Assistants, Youth Crew members and volunteers who work on the GRuB Farm. The FCC’s responsibilities include propagation, irrigation, harvest, veggie processing, soil management, as well as teaching and supervising others in these realms. The FCC helps with farm documentation and accurate record keeping. This person is a key point person for irrigation management on the farm, so they should feel comfortable with all aspects of drip tape. This FCC should have experience in a leadership role, especially with youth and should feel comfortable and excited leading groups of teens and adults with little experience in farm work. The FCC must be available to work occasional weekends to host seasonal Saturday Farm volunteer days or set up irrigation. As a co-supervisor for Farm team members, this person will help the Farm Manager with Farm team check-ins, evaluations and farm systems management.

Required ● Experience working with youth and adults with various skill levels and diverse backgrounds ● Strong work ethic: Punctual and energetic, flexibility, resourcefulness, high attention to detail and accuracy, ability to balance multiple demands ● Strong leadership and communication skills, self-motivated ● 2+ years farm experience, drip tape/irrigation systems experience ● Experienced performing manual labor outdoors in inclement weather ● Ability to lift 50 pounds ● Clean driving record and a drivers license

Desired ● Tractor driving experience, walk-behind rototilling experience ● Experience with GRuB
