Thurston Conservation District has three upcoming workshops! Descriptions are below and flyers for each are attached. Please share feel free to share widely- we have lots of space in all of them at the moment.
April 26th: Liming 101- Good Liming & Calcium Nutrition Practices
5 – 8pm, Tumwater Fire Station Meeting Room
Learn the What, When, and How of liming with Gudrun Mahrt from Columbia River Carbonates. There will be an opportunity for you to test your own soil’s pH, so be sure to bring a sample with you! Go home with a better understanding of what you can do to make a difference in land stewardship through pH management. Info about TCD Soil testing will also be available.

May 12th: Greener Pastures- Increasing Productivity, Reducing Weeds & Improving Soil Health
11am – 2pm, Private Landowner’s Property
Join us for an afternoon where we learn about how to manage your pasture for productivity, reducing weeds, and improving soil health. We’ll cover nutrient management, pasture rotation, and pasture renovation. The workshop will be held on-site at a nearby farm where we can look at pasture management practices being implemented and ask questions.

May 22nd: Supporting Backyard Habitat
4:30 – 5:45pm, Lacey Timberland Library Meeting Room
Join TCD Habitat Specialist, Kathleen Berger, in exploring how to create pockets of wildlife habitat in your backyard. We’ll explore affordable, beautiful, and environmentally friendly ways to support our native flora and fauna. This workshop is perfect for urban and suburban households interested in supporting birds, pollinators, and small mammals in their backyards. A fun & family friendly workshop!
