Social Media Intern – Women’s Suffrage Centennial
- Washington State Historical Society is searching for a Social Media Intern to manage the social media program of the Women’s Suffrage Centennial, and drive all aspects of its brand’s social and audience-building strategy.
The ideal candidate will have background in History, Women and Gender Studies, Museology, or a like field and be very social media savvy. We’re looking for an individual who is an expert in community-building on key social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), and has a proven track record of audience building from the ground up, and be an agile content creator with a creative mind.
Experience with editorial writing and promoting diverse content within a brand voice is important. Passion about and knowledge of Women’s History a huge plus!
- Drive the maintenance and growth of Women’s Suffrage Centennial social media accounts.
Hone a consistent editorial voice across all platforms.
Create content autonomously and in collaboration with the Centennial Coordinator and Director of Audience Engagement.
Ideate and execute social media marketing campaigns, contests, and engagement strategies.
- An understanding of audience growth strategies.
An active presence on social platforms.
Experience juggling multiple projects and effectively prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
Experience with editorial writing with a consistent brand voice.
Passion about Washington State History and Women’s History.
Knowledge of and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and social media publishing tools.

Vacation (Annual Leave)
You begin accruing vacation starting your first month of employment. Since we value your loyalty, the amount of vacation you can accrue increases the longer you work with us. Washington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year. Vacation accrues for full-time employees per WAC 357-31-165.
