Advertised Salary:Minimum $50,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

Degree and area of specialization:Bachelor’s degree required. Specialization in sustainability, quantitative and qualitative research, engineering science, environmental science/studies or related field is strongly preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:Minimum 2-6 years of progressive experience working with data collection and analysis. Experience with the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS), GHG (Greenhouse Gas Inventory), and Climate Action Planning preferred. Prefix is dependent on relevant work experience.

License or Certificate:Professional licensure sustainability-related credentials such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), and/or LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) is desirable.

Position Summary:This position will work closely with the campus and community to coordinate and report UW-Madison’s campus sustainability information through the numerous reporting, rating, and commitment frameworks used at the state, national and international level for benchmarking and promoting sustainability in higher education.

Additional Information:

  • Knowledge of sustainability concepts and best practices in higher education, such as environmental and sustainability science, curricular integration, systems thinking, and climate action planning.
  • Familiarity with higher education organizational structure including Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Development, Research, Legal, and Finance and Administration.
  • Ability to interpret analyze and report sustainability metrics such as energy calculations, cost benefit analysis, greenhouse gas reporting and STARS data.
  • Knowledge of building & grounds facilities and or utility system operations.
  • Experience working with shared governance groups, including faculty, staff, and student groups, student government, and student organizations.
  • Strong oral, written and listening communications skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships and to build partnerships.
  • Ability to manage a project, including manage teams and milestones for teams.
