Job Description:

Do you love to work outside, have a sense of humor, enjoy working with children, and know how to play and have fun? Spend a season in the sunny Carolinas as an Instructor with YMCA Camp Thunderbird! We are looking for people to join us this this fall (now-mid December)!

Monday through Friday, instructors work with children who come to Camp Thunderbird with their schools!  During the day, instructors have the opportunity to teach over 20 classes ranging in topics from aquatic, forest and wildlife ecology to astronomy, canoeing, compass and high/low ropes challenge.  Then 2 evenings a week, instructors get a chance to have fun with the students, leading activities like campfire, field games, and night hikes.

Instructors earn $262/week with benefits that include staff housing (shared living space, kitchen, and laundry), meals, complimentary Charlotte YMCA membership, and first aid/CPR certification.  Instructors also work one weekend a month (or more if they’d like!), earning an extra $9/hr.

Applicants must have experience working with children and possess a BS/BA in environmental education, biology, education, outdoor education, or related field, or equivalent experience.
