Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
The ideal candidate is an individual who has worked with our land management agencies or is familiar and passionate about implementing its mission to balance public resource enjoyment, education, and inspiration with resource preservation. Experience working with other agencies, in higher education, or for non-profits that have a conservation/resource mission will also be very useful, as ACE works with a variety of different partners, including the Departments of Interior & Agriculture. The ideal candidate must have a solid understanding of the rigors of earning a BA/BS degree (or higher) in biological, cultural/historical, geoscience, or environmental science fields. Please note, though the ideal candidate will have extensive field experience, this job is an office job with a flexible work schedule, where candidates can anticipate spending the majority of their day in front of a computer, on the phone, or in collaborative meetings.
Essential Functions Specific to the Job:
- Facilitate recruiting for ACE’s agency partners regionally and nationally.
- Reviewing and interviewing candidates, conducting reference checks and referrals, under the direction of the assigned program lead.
- Directly plan and implement outreach for recruitment including forming and maintaining new partnerships with professional organizations, tribes, schools, and local community groups for prospective candidates and recruitment pools.
- Participate in weekly meetings (check-ins) with program leads.
- Work directly with the assigned program lead to develop and host trainings and creation of resources to applicants, interns, and alumni, as well as special programs.
- Expand program capacity and resources to recruit for workforce diversity as agency directives request.
- Participate in and facilitate related training, collect and organize data on recruitment statistics, and program activity and success.
- Understand and appreciate the complexity and uniqueness of various federal agency cultures.
Experience and Minimum Qualifications:
- Extremely strong communication skills, and a deep interest in the welfare and development of ACE’s emerging professional interns.
- Commitment to ACE’s mission to public service through youth development & volunteerism.
- Knowledge and professional acceptance of the varied missions of federal agencies, specifically Bureau of Land Management. .
- Highly organized with the ability to maintain organization of hundreds of intern applications and dozens of simultaneous projects, nationwide.
- Strong computer management skills including experience with recruitment software and online personnel databases, iOS, Filemaker, Excel, MS Office, Adobe Suite software, or equivalents.
- Must be flexible, with the ability to work well as part of a highly mobile, highly functional team.
- Very strong time management skills and the ability and desire to perform multiple and variable tasks.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel to project sites around the country.
- Evening, weekend and/or holiday work may be necessary as target candidates may not be available during the normal business hours.
- The desire to participate in field projects, when possible.
- Ability to pass a federal criminal background check will be required. ACE reserves the right to require drug testing within our programs.

Job Benefits and Compensation:

- Compensation depending on experience. Estimated salary range $27,000 – $33,000. Level of agency experience, especially with agency interested in applying for, will be a strong consideration.
