ShoreRivers seeks an Outreach and Restoration Manager to join our team and help fulfill our mission to protect and restore our rivers and the living resources they support. This position manages the River-Friendly Yards Campaign, coordinates volunteer water quality monitoring programs, and manages restoration projects. The ideal candidate will be an energetic, outgoing individual who is enthusiastic about the environment and the communities we serve. This job requires a detail orientated, organized, and outwardly social self-starter.

This position reports to the Regional Director and works primarily out of the Chestertown office. This is a full-time position; the employee must be flexible to work weekends and evenings and to travel when necessary. Salary will be commensurate with experience; ShoreRivers offers a competitive benefits package. RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage the River-Friendly Yards Campaign, a homeowner outreach program aimed at changing yard care behavior and practices to improve water quality.

Implement restoration projects in high priority subwatersheds in the Chester and Sassafras.

Manage volunteer water quality sampling programs on the Chester and Sassafras.

Identify, secure, and manage grants to fund outreach and restoration projects.

Work with the Riverkeepers and other staff on projects and programs.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS ANDQUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in an environmental or science field and five years work experience in a relevant field.

Belief in our mission to achieve clean local waters.

Demonstrated experience with grant and program management.

Demonstrated ability to speak confidently in a public forum.

Ability to interpret and communicate water quality data to a wide range of audiences.

Project management skills that include organization, budgeting, and delegation.

An understanding of aquatic ecosystems, watershed issues, and the local factors that influence water quality on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Experience and familiarity with water quality testing techniques, protocols, and equipment is a benefit.

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Excellent attention to detail and organization

Proficient in Microsoft Office

ShoreRivers seeks to protect and restore Eastern Shore waterways through science-based advocacy, restoration, and education. We work collaboratively with our community yet maintain an uncompromising voice for clean rivers and the living resources they support.

We have a dedicated staff of educators, scientists, restoration specialists, and advocates focused on policies and projects that will improve the health of our rivers. Our staff includes four Waterkeepers who regularly patrol and monitor our waters and serve as key spokespersons: Chester Riverkeeper, Choptank Riverkeeper, Miles-Wye Riverkeeper, and Sassafras Riverkeeper. Our Waterkeepers and staff are a strong, collective voice for Eastern Shore waterways.

ShoreRivers was created in 2017 when the Chester River Association, Midshore Riverkeeper Conservancy, and Sassafras River Association merged. We have more than 3,500 members and supporters across the Eastern Shore who help us achieve our vision of healthy waterways.
